Be Careful How You Hear

There are a lot of people struggling with their faith right now. Your struggle has a lot to do with where you are and who you are listening to. I love the story of Jesus when he healed the blind man at Bethesda.

If you pay attention to what Jesus did before he healed the blind man, he took him by the hand and lead him out of his familiar place. Jesus took the blind man out of the city. Since the man was blind it wasn’t his sight that was the issue. The issue was what he was hearing. The blind man was hearing and listening to things that were influencing his ability to see.

If you are struggling with your ability to see where God is going, and to know what God is doing in this hour, it is probably because of where you are, and who you are listening to. If you want to see what God is doing, you must get into an atmosphere where you can reduce their ability to influence your capacity to hear— so you can see.

If God has said something to his prophets, you might want to listen to the prophets. Because according to 2 Chronicles 2020, your ability to be established and prosper in this new era depends on your capacity to believe.

2 Chronicles 20:20 (NKJV)
…Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”

Luke 24:25 (NKJV)
Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

Acts 26:27 (NKJV)
“King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe.”

Jesus was the greatest prophet that ever walked the earth. He told us to be careful what we hear. That is more true today than any time in the history of this nation. If you want to move with God in this next season, you must get out of a crowd of people who are influencing the way you hear. You might want to turn off some of the networks that don’t agree with what God has said. You have to choose who you’re going to listen to. You have to choose who you are going to believe. This hour demands that you trust God and believe what he says.

The church in North America has rarely had an opportunity like what we are experiencing today. We are spoiled. We’ve never had a real battle here in this country. Until now. If you want to win with God, you’ve got to fight with God. If you want to walk with God, you have to stand with God.

Even so, after Jesus healed the blind man, he told him don’t even go back to the city. He said to go home. Some people need to go home and get away from the crowds they’ve been hanging with. God wants to take you into a place where your vision can now influence what’s happening in your house. Once you begin to see, you can shape what happens in your life. But as long as you are influenced by people who are talking and speaking in contradiction to what God says, your ability to see, you will stay blind. And you will not be able to advance in the kingdom of God.

Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida
Mark 8:22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”
24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26 Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.
