Grade Yourself

Years ago, when my son was small probably 10, 11, 12 years old, I would give him the opportunity to grade me as a parent. I wanted his perspective on how well I was making choices that impacted his life. Some of those conversations were absolutely profound.

It is really important that we as believers in Jesus Christ stop and assess the level and the quality of our walk with God. Sometimes we think that it is all about us. It is not. God has an agenda. He needs us to grow, mature, and develop so that we become more effective in the earth.

Most people don’t stop and assess their walk with God and give themselves a grade. It’s really important to stop and ask yourself, what if my walk with God was compared to, let’s say, education, what grade would I be in? Have I advanced from fourth grade to fifth grade in the past year? Am I still in high school after 30 years as a Christian? Have I achieved spiritual maturity beyond elementary school?

2 Corinthians 13:5 says, test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as committed believers. Examine yourselves not me! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves by an ongoing experience that Jesus Christ is in you – unless indeed you failed the test and are rejected as counterfeits. (AMP)

It is our responsibility to evaluate ourselves and to know whether we are actively progressing in the kingdom.

And that progress is not just limited to your spiritual walk. It includes financial growth and maturity. It is Acquiring assets, investing in real estate, it is building a wealth base so you have resources to give. It is developing financial income streams so you can prosper financially.

It includes having a fundamental understanding of the tenements of your faith. Things like how to lead a person to the Lord. Understanding the basic principles of Christianity.

That being said, where are you? Grade yourself. If your walk with God was equated to a grade in school, where would you be?
