Let God Do It…

Several days ago I was looking at the list of projects on my desk thinking, how am I going to manage this? In the quiet recesses of my mind, I heard a little voice say, let God do it. Let God take the load you are trying to carry and show you the best way to manage it. That doesn’t mean he will do it for you. There is no growth in that. It does mean he will give you strategies and insight into the best way to manage what you have to do.

We all encounter challenges at times and feel overwhelmed by the enormity of our tasks. Sometimes just being a woman feels like too much. There are so many people depending on us to hold things together. And yet, God promises us abundance. Often we think of abundance as material things. But I have learned to see everything from the lens of abundance.

That includes my time. I have learned to say, “there is more than enough time to do everything I am supposed to do.” Thus, if I find myself feeling overwhelmed as if there is not enough time, it is a key indicator that there is something I am trying to do that does not belong to me.

It may mean I have to evaluate what things to defer, delegate, discard or do myself. This four-quadrant filter helps me sort out the overwhelming task that shouldn’t belong to me in the first place.

So what do you need to discard from your task list?

What do you need to delegate to someone else?

What do you need to defer to a later time?

And what are the things that only you can (and should) do?

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8
