12 – This Generation

When Jesus said, ‘This generation will not pass,’ what did He mean? This is clearly a significant statement in scriptures because God allowed the apostles to repeat the same thing three times.

In Matthew 24:34 Jesus taught, “Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”

Mark 13:30 “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

Luke 21:32  Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place.

There are many interpretations of this passage. The first question to ask is what was meant by the word generations? Was Jesus referring to the generation of people who would be living during the period of time when the signs of the end of the age were actually happening? Jesus described a list of events that would be occurring during the end of days in Matthew 24.

It makes sense that the generation alive at that time (as in our time) would be the generation he was talking about. And how long is that generation? Psalms 90:10 gives us a clue. The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

So if the generation is 70 to 80 years, what starts the clock ticking? Many people think it is the return of the Jewish People to the land of Israel. That would mean that the clock started ticking on May 14, 1948. On this day, the United Nations recognized the State of Israel, after the liberation of Jews from German concentration camps shocked the world and created global sympathy for these decimated people.  The Israeli government established the State of Israel. That fulfilled Isaiah 11:11.

It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
To recover the remnant of His people who are left,
From Assyria and Egypt,
From Pathros and Cush,
From Elam and Shinar,
From Hamath and the islands of the sea.,

Jeremiah 16:14 “Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “that it shall no more be said, ‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ 15) “but, ‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.

God is faithful to all of His Word and every one of His promises. He is fulfilling this twenty-five-hundred-year-old prophecy right before our eyes.

So if you read this article and want to know how to avoid the Great Tribulation Period and how to be ready for the rapture, the answer is simple, You need to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9-13 says, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

So pray this prayer,

Dear God,

I come to you in the name of Jesus.

I accept that Jesus came into this world to save me.

I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that He was raised again from the dead for me.

Jesus, I confess you as Lord today. Please come into my life and be my Lord and Saviour. I say today, before God and people, that I belong to Jesus.

Thank you, God, for saving me from my sins. Thank you, Lord God, for forgiving me of my sins and granting me life and love for all of eternity.

If you prayed that prayer, Jesus heard you and you are now saved. Now, you need to connect with other believers in Christ and learn how to build a relationship with Jesus. We have a community and lots of online resources to help you do that.
