How to Avoid…
Every lie has an expiration date…
All sin has a payday…
All secrets eventually become public knowledge…
Hidden stuff gets discovered by accidents that God sets up on purpose…
What is the solution to all of the above? Be your own change agent.
I was thinking about several situations that have persisted for a long time and seemingly they have triumphed, but at the end of every situation, we must remember that if you are in God, and you are in a situation, then your situation is also in God. God is faithful to his own.
Thus, every lie has an expiration date because there is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed. There is nothing done in secret that shall not be brought into the light. God is merciful, he gave David every opportunity to repent and change. When he persisted in hiding his sin, eventually his sin’s payday arrived and costs him the life of his son.
As believers in the kingdom of God, we are not exempt from the consequences of sin (payday). We each must give an account of our attitudes and our actions. In fact,
1 Corinthians 11:31-32 (The Voice Tr) says it best…
31 But if we took care to judge ourselves, then we wouldn’t have to worry about being judged by another. 32 In fact, the Lord’s hand of judgment is correcting us so that we don’t suffer the same fate as the rest of the rebellious world: condemnation.
God is faithful to give us a chance to self correct. But if we refuse, then he will have to bring correction for us. And mind you, that “correction” does not include the following…
1) Price of our consequences,
2) The payday of our sin,
3) The embarrassment of being exposed to the world, and
4) The shame of hidden things coming to light.
We get to avoid all of that by being our OWN change agents. We can REPENT, or change the way we think and come into agreement with God. We can shift our paradigms to the kingdom way of thinking. That is the power of believing in a merciful God who only wants what is best for us. God loves us. Everything he does comes from the perspective of a loving father.
But as any good parent will tell you, sometimes the best thing you can do for a rebellious, unrepentant, stubborn, hard headed, wayward child…
…is giving them a much need “butt whuppin…”
